HOW TO PLAY THE PIANO FASTER

YOU DON'T NEED ANYTHING FANCY TO HELP YOU PLAY FAST.

METRONOME

WARMED UP FINGERS

PROPER POSTURE

IT ALL STARTS WITH...

SLOW PRACTICE!

HOW DO I START?

Gently warm up with scales and arpeggios before starting your practice session.

1

Improve your technique by playing scales for 10 minutes per 1 hour of practice.

2

Memorize the notes, rhythm, and timing of the piece you're working on.

3

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Don't pause while you're playing.  Work on the hard parts so you can play at a consistent speed. Don't tense up while you're playing. Don't press the keys too hard, either.

YOU'RE ALMOST READY TO PLAY AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT!

Keep your fingers close to the keys to minimize pauses. Practice etudes for extra help.

ONE LAST TIP...

Need to play loud and fast? Use the weight of your forearms, not just your finger strength.  Let your arms hang loosely at your sides to feel their weight, then channel that into your playing.
